About Nawajyoti
"I bow to the feet of my spiritual teachers Paramahansa Satyananda, Sri Sri Sri Satchidananda and acknowledge my debt to Sri K Pattabhi Jois, Derek Ireland, my first teachers Sharon and Kisen and all my friends who continue to give me the strength and inspiration to continue on my path."

Nawajyoti is 49 years old, born in Pretoria, South Africa of Dutch nationality. As a child she moved to various countries and was educated in South Africa, Switzerland and the Netherlands. She moved to England and became interested in yoga when she was 30 years old and always had a great interest in body movement, dance and gymnastics.

Yoga has become an inspiration for her life. She started studying Iyengar style which later developed in her interest in Astanga Vinyasa yoga. She worked and taught in Wales, Bristol and Edinburgh for many years and is a facilitator for the teacher training of Union Yoga, Edinburgh. She moved to France two years ago wanting to embrace a yogic lifestyle, where she now offers retreats and holidays.

Her exploration of different Hatha Yoga styles brought her to study Satyananda Yoga attending the Yogic University of Munger, India where she received her spiritual name and recently she has devoted her time studying with the silent sage of Madras, Swami Satchidananda.

She teaches Astanga Vinyasa Yoga, traditional Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga. The movement of Ashtanga Yoga is challenging and self empowering whilst the meditations, pranayamas and kriyas of Satyananda Yoga integrate on a deep energetic level working with ancient tantric teachings.
